If you've seen films like "Pride and Prejudice," you've seen English Country Dancing. Similar to contra dance, it is generally more stately and elegant. The music is gorgeous, and mostly based on very old Celtic folk tunes.

Showcasing an international cast of world class dancers, Zikr Dance Ensemble's "Ritual" will feature the company's premiere of internationally acclaimed Moroccan/Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s "In Memoriam" pas de deux . This acquisition marks a milestone for the Colorado-based company, known for its fusion of contemporary dance and metaphysical themes. This is a rare honor as no other dance company in Colorado has a piece by Cherkaoui in their repertoire. Zikr’s Board, staff and dancers are extremely honored to be selected to premiere this amazing and simply beautiful work!
Also included in the program will be two world premieres -- "Vesica Piscis" and "Arcturian" -- by Zikr's founder and Artistic Director, David Taylor.
