In these difficult times, we need stories more than ever. In its fifth year, the NM Jewish Storytelling Festival overflows with stories through a weekend of performances, workshops, & family programs, focusing not just on the Jewish experience, but on our shared human experiences.
With nationally renowned Jewish storytellers coming to ABQ from around the country, there will be something for everyone. Want to learn to tell a story? Workshops with will give you the skills you need. Have a story to tell? There will be ample opportunity to share stories. On Saturday night, there will be a storytelling concert with three world-class storytellers. On Sunday morning, there will be a children/family program, followed by student storytellers. All this and food. Join us for a mid-eastern feast on Saturday and hear stories around the table. Friday night and Saturday morning services, plus our Sunday morning family program are free. This sale boasts more than 25,000 items for sale, all at 70–90% of list price. Paperbacks start at just 25 cents each! You’ll also find bargain prices on used DVDs, CDs, and records. Entry is free for Friends members and $2 for non-members before noon.
The Friends of the Library use funds from the Bookshop and Book Sales to support the Public Library Albuquerque and Bernalillo County programs, such as the Summer Reading Program, El Día de los Niños, staff development, community outreach, and many other offerings.
The Friends rely on the generous donations of books and other media from the community. Small donations can be dropped off at the local library branches and larger donations at the Main Library. Mexico Beyond Mariachi is a multi-cultural ensemble of professional musicians, actors, dancers, and teaching artists whose love of Mexican traditions and way of life shines bright in every performance. Their philosophy is rooted in the belief that art and culture are integral to the development of every individual’s outlook on life.
