"Blunt Adjustments" To The State's Medical Marijuana Program Explained

After a last fall of card carrying medical marijuana patients in New Mexico found demand out-stripped supply, the state has been under direct orders from a district judge to solve an annual 8,000 pound medical marijuana shortage.

Secretary of Health Retta Ward released a set of proposed rule changes earlier this month. Independent journalist Peter St. Cyr, who writes about the program for the , explained them to 91°µÍø. He says the new rules will allow producers to grow more plants, but that the cost of a grower’s license has skyrocketed.
