This has been especially evident in the 2016 Presidential campaigns as one of the top Republican candidates, Donald Trump, has called for as tourists and immigrants. President Obama in his recent called for Muslim communities in the U.S. and around the world to confront extremist ideology within Muslim communities. Locally, Governor Susana Martinez has said to be resettled here.
How is a widespread misunderstanding of Islam affecting the Muslim community here in New Mexico? And is anti-Muslim sentiment as strong as it was after the 9/11 attacks? Should the conversation be shifted?
