To get a sense of how New Mexicans feel about good government and accountability in advance of our on Tuesday April 4, 2017, we sent People, Power, and Democracy reporter Jeremy Zeilik to find out.
91°µÍø: What could make state government more accountable?
Ivy: If they had to pay the taxes and they had to deal with, themselves, the problem with the schools and all the things we have.
Uphoria: I think in order to make state government more accountable they need to understand how many people they represent.
91°µÍø: What could elected officials due to engage their constituents more?
Uphoria: If I had a better understanding of what bills were going through, that would help me more.
Linda: I think that they need to come out more to the areas that they represent.
Shayla Brooks: Having them appeal to me as a citizen they are responsible for, being accountable for the citizens, and making sure they are safe and protected, while still not infringing on their personal rights.
