Disability Rights In The Roundhouse

UPDATE Feb. 19, 2014, 10:17 a.m.:  is awaiting a vote by the Senate.

Today was at the Roundhouse, and a bill calling for a plan for the state's troubled waiver program is stuck in committee awaiting a hearing. 

The provides home- and community-based services to people with a wide range of disabilities. Its wait list is eight- to 10-years-long. 

Sen. William Soules, a Democrat from Las Cruces, that calls for the state to make a five-year plan to increase funding to the program. A task force determined that it would take to decrease the wait to three years. 

The 2014 legislative session ends .
