This winter, a pipe burst at Coronado Elementary in downtown Albuquerque, damaging the school library. The city public library responded by issuing library cards to all Coronado students. Librarians presented the cards last week, and 91°µÍø spoke with some fourth graders there.
Layla Moore-Garcia, age 9 - I used to live in my apartment, and it was a couple blocks away from the new library that opened a couple years ago. And even before that, one of my grandparents would take me to the library. My grandpa, he did a lot of raising me, and we would sit on the front porch and just look at birds. So we got a lot of bird books to look at. I just am really interested in animals, so I wanna be a vet when I grow up.
Josiah Martinez - My two favorite book series are Harry Potter and the Middle-Earth series. I like math, science, reading. And I and my dad want to write a book series, and also many other childrens' books.
Rebecca Woodard - I've been reading The BFF Bucket List. They're gonna go to a new school, and they won't be able to see each other, so they made a bucket list of things that they have to do before they don't see each other anymore. [I like it] because it reminds me of me and my friends.
Joaqin Casaus, age 10 - I'm looking for chapter books. I like Who Is Babe Ruth, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I like different types of books. Being in a library is just fun.
