Zeldin spent a majority of his keynote address in front of the governors of North Dakota, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Utah highlighting his efforts to rollback over 30 environmental regulations to 鈥渦nleash American energy鈥� and lower the cost of living.

Recent polling shows that Western voters 鈥� both Democrat and Republican 鈥� overwhelmingly approve of these agencies and the work they do.

A state Environment Department and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency inspection of oil and gas facilities in New Mexico鈥檚 portion of the Permian Basin found more than half may be violating air quality rules. Environment Secretary James Kenney said the results are 鈥渃ause for alarm.鈥�

The state of New Mexico and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have launched a new task force to investigate and prosecute environmental crimes in the state. These can range from dumping oil and hazardous waste to falsifying records.
