Summertime gives kids the chance to go outside and have some fun, but many don鈥檛 always have a way to get around town. A local Albuquerque group is raising awareness about free bus passes for kids.
The passes will give kids ages 10 to 18 unlimited access to free city bus rides along Central Avenue in June and July, a .
There are 1,500 passes up for grabs when young folks register with participating community centers.
Organizers with say this is the project鈥檚 first phase, and if it goes well, it could be implemented on other bus routes all over the city. The group focuses on supporting kids of color.
The ABQ Youth Pass program was put together by the city of Albuquerque.
