Some kids have a hard time getting enough to eat while school is out for winter break. Albuquerque Public Schools will offer free meals for students starting Friday.
The city of Albuquerque partners with APS for the Winter Break Meal Program. Bobby Sisneros is a spokesman for the city.
"These kids don鈥檛 have to feel the anxiety of trying to find their next meal," Sisneros said. "So hopefully they can rest easy knowing, 鈥楬ey, I鈥檓 still gonna be able to eat.鈥�"
that about 125,000 kids in New Mexico struggle with food insecurity.
There are 28 sites across Bernalillo County where children can pick up warm food similar to what they鈥檇 get at school. The only requirement is that those kids be 18 years and under.
The meals will be available for nine days through early January, not including Christmas and New Years Day.
Those days are: Dec. 21, 24, 26, 27, 28, 31 and Jan. 2, 3, 4.
